1st Annual Miracle League Fun Run 2009

Today, we met with The Wichita Falls Junior League, who are in charge of the Miracle League Ball Park Project. The purpose of the meeting was to lay the ground work for the 1st Annual Miracle League Fun Run 2009. This fun run, as all of you know, is to help with fundraising for Phase II of the Miracle League Ball Field, which is for the building of family restrooms and a concession stand.
The meeting was today 7-9-09, at 1730 hrs at the Junior League Center 2302 Midwestern Parkway. In attendance were the Miracle League Chair, Allison Kirkpatrick and Co-Chair, Lee Cook. Blue Knights TX XX members present were: John Bailey- President, Kyle Collier-Vice President, and Doug Whitaker.

Time of event: 0915 hrs (registration) Packets will include route map, T-shirt & ride pin & 1st door prize ticket.
1000 hrs (1st bike out)
1015 hrs (last bike out)
Registration fees: $20 single, $30 double
Route: to be determined to include a minimum of 4 stops.
t-shirts: Mrs. Kirkpatrick will check with t-shirt company that can make up t-shirts for $6.50 a piece.

ride pins: will have Miracle League logo with Fun Run 2009. Need to check for a possible business sponsor
Sponsors/donations/door prizes: Doug Whitaker stated he is familiar with requesting these & will be responsible for it
Miracle League Chair said they would be responsible for the publicity, manning the rest stops and taking care of the food/water at the stops.
Blue Knights TX XX:
1. An experienced member, Road Captain or Chapter Officer will plan a route that should include (pending their approval): Red River Harley Davidson, Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch, Eddie Hills Fun Cycles, G&S Superbikes and Texas Roadhouse. I (Bailey) will contact these business tomorrow 7-10-09 for their approval or disapproval.
2. I will deliver ASAP, some examples of Fun Run flyers to the Miracle League Chair or Co-Chair. I will also email the Chair, our Blue Knights International Logo.
3. While at Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch, I will approach them also about donating the ride pins. I will ask Eddie Hills or Red River Harley about the shirts.
4. I will stop and talk to Texhoma Thunder and see if they would like to set up a booth/tent with some of their accessories & apparel. If they aren't interested, I will call Biker Leathers in Chattanooga Oklahoma and see if they are interested. The Chattanooga folks are the ones that set up at the Compassion Run every year.
5. I will get the tickets for the door prizes.
6. Not discussed but needs to be, a 50/50 drawing. Always a popular point on most of the runs I have been on.

All in all, I felt that the meeting went well, and we are off to a good start. I,of course, expected more Blue Knights TX XX members to show up, but I understand the work conflicts, PGR missions and those out of town
The next follow-up meeting is scheduled for Tuesday Aug 11, 09 at 1730 hrs. The meeting will be at The Wichita Falls Junior League Center 2302 Midwestern Parkway Wichita Falls Texas. This is plenty of notice and we NEED your input & help, so please plan accordingly and make this next meeting. As always, I will email reminders and even make phone calls to remind you.
We can make this happen. It is for a great cause and one we are proud to be a part of.
